All But A Year Ago...

One year ago today Lance and I found out some pretty special news...Here's the story:
Lance and I were working out pretty hard, taking supplements, and getting ready for summer to come. I was a couple weeks late, which wasn't new, cause I had recently stopped taking a certain birth control, and it made me irregular. But my intuition was telling me different. I had read on the supplements to "not take if pregnant or breast feeding" and it worried me a bit. So, before we went to the gym, we stopped at Walgreens to grab a test. Lance was sweating the whole way there, and also telling me.. "there's no way.." So we hit the gym and after came right home. We read the instructions, and Wah Lah, 2 little pink lines. Of course, Lance made me take another test the next morning and it still was postive. We were both so excited, but so scared. Of course we wanted to be parents one day, but didn't realize it would happen so soon after we were married. I tell you what, I wouldn't do it any different, and I know I can say the same for Lance.

The Things You'll Do

I've found that becoming a mother makes you do anything to get a rise out of your babies. It makes my day when I can make Layla laugh her little head off at me, even if I have to be really silly. On the video below, just try to focus on Layla, and her precious little laugh. Or you can enjoy Gille on Dancing With The Stars if you missed him last Monday!
Layla has just recently started this. I put in The Little Mermaid yesterday to see if she'd enjoy it, and boy did she?! So I tried it again today and she definitely likes it. It's like she almost understands it, and she's not even 4 months old yet!
This is my favorite time of the day... when she wakes up in the morning...
Bath time is also a highlight of my day. We both enjoy it so much. She's going after the kill in this picture. She just loves her fingers. It's impossible to get her to suck on the binkie! Don't you just love the little rolls on her legs? I sure do!
All ready for bed in her jammies.
She's laughing at her daddy in this picture.
Notice how she curls her toes in every picture. I love it!

Happy Birthday Jaykie Poo

I'm late again on a birthday post! I'm so sorry Jayk. No excuses.
April 20th was my brother, Jayk's, birthday. Of course, I was so sad to not make it there for such a special day, but we did have a great talk on the phone. I sure do miss him. I'm so proud of the man that he's become. He is such a hard worker for his little family. He has a beautiful wife, and 2 amazing children that are so lucky to have him in their lives. Happy Birthday Jaykie Poo! Can't wait to see you!
Don't you just love that old orange couch!

Grandma Shellie and Layla Time

The night my mom got here. Of course she had to give Layla her bath. Layla would just kick her little legs, she was so excited!
Our little Nun
Practicing tummy time after bath time. She's starting to really enjoy it thanks to my mom. I just wasn't doing something right.
Getting ready to take Grandma Shellie to the airport. Such a sad sad day.

Our Vacation w/ an Amazing Surprise!

Warning: Picture Overload!
What a week we had! It was so fun and exciting. To start off, last weekend I had a pretty rough weekend being away from home and family on Easter. Homesick always gets the best of me on holidays. I just couldn't wait till Thursday morning, to get out of town and go to Florida. Well, come Tuesday I was pretty stressed and overwhelmed with packing, cleaning, laundry, and getting Pre-Camp all ready for my young women. I sat with Lance at breakfast that morning and just vented to him, and on the verge of crying. He comforted me, like always, and told me that him and Layla would go pick me up a little surprise later on that day... Anyway, later on Tuesday afternoon he told me that he had to go work out and run his friend to pick up his truck. I asked if I could go with him and he told me no :( He NEVER tells me no. I was so sad. What a day it had been and he told me no! After he had been gone for 2 whole hours I was pretty upset and to blow off some steam Layla and I went to our bedroom to take a little nap, and about 10 minutes later...

Surprise!
Ah..I thought I was in a wonderful dream. My mother was standing right over me! What a way to wake up! I cried and just hugged her forever. I'm so glad she came! (Lance had left to pick my mom up at the airport, needless to say I forgave him right away)
So then on early Thursday morning we were off to Navarre Beach, Florida. My sister-in-law's uncle owns a beautiful condo/beach house and we had the pleasure of staying in it. It was amazing.

Here's Grandma Chivers enjoying the ride with Layla.

Lance had been in the car to long! I thought he looked so cute on this bike. He was riding it so proper!

After grabbing a bit to eat, we hit my all time favorite store: Williams-Sonoma
Uncle Dane picking on Layla while she was asleep. He never wanted her to sleep. He was always trying to wake her up!
The Beach
Layla's first on the beach. Unfortunately it was really windy and we only stayed out there for about 5 minutes. But we had to snap some pictures.
Gotta love him

It was really nice out on the deck, so we just relaxed there for a little while.

One of Layla's favorite uncles. She loves sleeping on him like this. (can you see her little fuzz top!)
McQuires Irish Pub
MmmMmm... this resturant was delicious! This is Lacey and Dane with her mom Qwen and her dad Russell.
Our table. Jenny and Hobgood Lance, Greg, Amanda, and my mother!
Me and my Love
I think we look alike in this picture...
The atmosphere of this resturant was so awesome. They had dollars bills hanging everywhere. There's an estimated 785,000 dollars on the walls and ceilings with people names' on them. My mom and I added ours too. Hope they have great insurance...

Our bedroom. This condo has 5 huge bedrooms. I have pictures of all, but this post is already so so long!
We had such a great week. It was pretty hard dropping my mom off at the airport this morning, but I'm so glad she was able to come and visit. She was here for alot of Layla's firsts. It's comforting to know that I'll be home in a month from today! Yay!

Easter Sunday

What a special holiday Easter is. We had a wonderful, spiritual day. We enjoyed spending time with our Mississippi family so much, but missed our Utah family too. It's hard being away from family, specially on holidays. We hope you all had a great Easter!
The Easter Bunny found our house!
All the little toys on the right are from Grandma Chivers. Layla loves them. She gets so excited and just starts kicking her legs so fast when she grabs at them. As you can see, she was pretty excited this morning to see what the Easter bunny had brought her!

Our little beauty in her pretty Easter Sunday dress.
I know I'm her mother, but I think she's just a doll. She just get's prettier everyday.

Easter Fun

Layla and I got to go visit the Easter bunny out at my old job. I was worried she'd cry and be scared, because she's starting to do that a lot lately with strangers, but with the help of Aunt Barbara, she had the biggest grin on her face! We had a lot of fun catching up with all my co-workers, and seeing all the kids.
Today we also dyed Easter eggs. I know Layla won't remember this, but I want to always keep it a tradition in our family, just like my mom and dad did. We're excited for tomorrow, I've talked to the Easter bunny and he has some cute things in store for Lay Lay!
