i think they have my eyes...

{layla}

 {marx}

{me}

marx is 3 months!

mr. marx,

the past 2 days you've been a completely different baby.
which means, hardly any crying!
hopefully you're growing out of that colicy stage.
i'm able to lay you down now between feedings and you'll coo and squeal as you watch the ceiling fans.
you're also starting to really love your big sister when she comes around.
yesterday she actually made you giggle.
she was trying to scare you by saying, "blah!" right in your face, but you laughed at her.
it was cute.

you're a good little sleeper.
going down by 9:30 and usually sleeping until 6:00 or 6:30.
you then eat and go back to sleep until about 8:00 or so.

your cat naps are slowly getting longer.
yesterday you took 3 good naps.
all lasting about an hour.

you're a little drooler
i've always got to keep a burp rag around just to soak up that sweet spit of yours.

your hands facinate you.
you'll go cross eyed just staring at them and trying to figure out how to get them to work.
you've actually hit yourself with them a couple times and cried!

i think it's safe to say you've inherited the shape of my eyes.
when i was a baby my eyes were always big and round.
especially in pictures.
you do the same.
(and so did your sister)

i love when you follow me around the room with your eyes, or when i talk to you
you get the biggest grin on your face.
i love that you're my little momma's boy.
i wouldn't want it any other way.

you're just a handsome little man and seem to get cuter and cuter.
your daddy, layla, and i just adore you.

love,
your mommy

 {there's that drool and you're big blue round eyes}
and you gotta love that double chin (:

p.s. i think all of our kids will have your daddy's stamp.
at first people said you looked like me,
but now everyone says you look like him.

those spiers genes are strong!

oh how it'd be to be able to blog again...

seriously.
both my kids are asleep at the same time!
this rarely happens, so I've only got a few minutes for myself.
sooo...
i'm putting my messy house on the back burner and i'm gonna blog.
because, i never get to do it anymore!

the pics are totally random and from my phone.
first up, me and layla.
she is at such a fun age and i'm loving every bit of it.
she's turned into a little angel over night.
hopefully it's safe to say that the terrible two's are well behind us.
some funny things she says...

the other day we were going over to our friends house to eat and socialize.
it was already getting late and layla asked if we were going to stay long.
i told her, "no baby, it's already 8 o'clock, and we have church in the morning, so we won't be staying to long."
she then replied with, "no mom it's not 8 o'clock, it's 3 months!"
ah... ok layla.
it's 3 months then.
silly girl.

two year olds really do say the funniest things.

marx is still a bit of a handful.
i swear he's the gassiest thing on earth.
anyone have any advice. i think i've tried about everything.
and i don't want to stop nursing.
please tell me it's something he'll grow out of...

other than that, he's starting to really giggle and try to socialize.
such a little cutie.
can't believe he's almost 3 months old!

uncle dane and layla taking a sunday nap after dinner.
a pic i'm sure they'll both be happy to have 20 years from now.
she loves her uncle dane and aunt lacey.

i don't believe i ever posted this pic.
this was actually shortly after marx was born and i was having a hard time handling 2 kids.
she got into my moms purse and did a lovely job at applying her lipstick.

i love to nibble on those cheeks and kiss those little lips.

p.s.
we're leaving for utah in less than a week!
oh i can't wait to see all of my family!

wish me luck. i'll be flying with 2 kids by myself.
eek!

i'm totally loving this...

all smiles before church yesterday.
love it!

weekend of the 4th

we spent the holiday at preston's camp.
we were able to take my parents, kennedy and yaeger also.
besides trying to get used to the heat and humidity, i think they all really enjoyed themselves.
i took a lot more pics using my moms camera, so i'll have to post them when i get them.
we ate way to much, and were able relax a bit.
it was wonderful.

uncle greg helped layla build this neat sand castle.
or i should say, layla helped uncle greg.

kennedy's our little firecracker.
i still remember that day my mom went into labor while we were fishing.
i was 7 years old.

these were taken tuesday, the day my family packed up and headed back to utah...

me and kennedy got asked a lot if we were twins at church.
even a member in our bishopric thought kennedy was me.

guess we know where layla gets her eye color...

oh i can't wait till the end of july!! (:

his special day

on July 3rd, 2011 little marx was blessed.
it's such a sacred thing to be able to hear a blessing come from our Heavenly Father, to Father, to baby.
i'm so blessed to have a husband that holds his priesthood so dear so that he can give our
 babies these sweet blessings.

it was a special day.
his special day...

she just adores him...

grandma and papa chivers wouldn't have missed it for the world.

it was Brighton's special day too.
hopefully these little guys will grow up to be great friends and examples to each other.

my children are adorable... (:
they make me smile.

after the blessing we had our friends and family join us for a yummy lunch.
thanks to everyone that spent this day with us.
marx is a very loved little boy.

our first chick-fil-a opening

if you've read my dear friend wendi's blog, then you've heard of chick-fil-a openings.
her and her husband starling are hard core chick-fil-a opening goers.
so hard core that she went to an opening when her baby brighton was only 2 weeks old, and to this past opening having mastitis! hard core i tell ya.
i think they've been to 7 openings so far.

if you're not familiar with how they work visit chick-fil-a's first 100.
lance and i showed up and were given #'s 106 and 107.
sooo...
we had to wait all night to even see if we'd make the first 100 by 6:00am.
we crossed our fingers for some drop outs.

not knowing if we'd make it, we still put up our tent, got out our lawn chairs, and prepared ourselves
for a great night with our friends. chick-fil-a fed us a great dinner, supplied ice water, and put on some
great games for everyone. it was a fun night.
(even though it was horribly hot and humid!)

we took marx along for the adventure since i'm nursing and not quite ready to leave him over night.
layla stayed with her grandma and papa and was spoiled with loves!

isn't baby brighton just adorable!?
i could just nibble on him all day. i love his little rolls.
can you see the resemblance in him and his daddy?

the oreo game.
wendi rocked it and won.
look how funny the lady in the blue tie die looks.

you have to be completely exhausted to be able to sleep like little brooklyn is.
she's a doll and totally just goes a long with the flow.

anxiously waiting at the very end of the line to see if we made it!!

lance and i ended up being 98 and 99.
soo...
we received 104 free vouchers for free food at chick-fil-a!
that's over a $600.00 value.

i'd totally do it again.
