marx :: 4 months

our little man,

i can't believe you're already 4 months old.
i love LOVE this age.
you've really started to use your gut and just giggle!
you've also started to grab at your toys and entertain yourself.
i think this is the age when it starts to get really fun to watch your little personality shine.

when i walk near you, you'll get the biggest grin and kick your legs as fast as you can.
it's adorable and makes my day.
you love your baths.
love your fingers.
infact i think saying "love your fingers" is an understatement.

i've finally got you to take a binkie, BUT, you'll only take it at nap time, and when it plops out, i know
you're out cold.
speaking of naps you're getting very good at sleeping longer.
you usually take 3 good naps a day.
one at 10:30AM, one at 2:30PM and a cat nap around 6:00PM
gotta love the schedule you've started.
specially since your sister sleeps from 2:00-5ish

you're still sleeping through the night.
thank you!
you must know your momma needs her zzz's.

you're getting so long.
not quite sure what you're measuring, we'll see when we return home from our Utah trip
and take you to your 4 month check-up.
it can be quite decieving when we look at you because you're cheeks are so chubby,
but your legs are long and lean.
BUT
they are getting chunkier.
much better to squeeze and love on.

i've started you on rice cereal.
first couple bites were great, then you started to gag.
although, you do chow it down at night, right before bed.
it's a work in progress.

if i have a lot to do the one thing that will keep you entertained for hours is the mirror.
you just love looking at your little self in it.

you've also started rolling from your belly to your back.
and you'll roll from your back to your left side, so it won't be long and you'll be rolling everywhere!!
now i gotta be extra careful where i leave you.

you've already traveled on an airplane!
it was quite the trip.
i have to do A LOT of rocking back and forth and bouncing.
but, we did survive and arrived in Utah in one piece.

i think you'll keep your baby blues.
they're beautiful.
look just like your daddy's

you've discovered your inner squeal.
it's very high pitched and reminds me of a firecracker.
you really do it when i start to tickle your little back ribs.
which btw is your ticklish spot.

you've met a lot of your utah family and they think you're adorable.
i think meeting your great-great grandma was a very special moment.
i can't wait to tell you all about her one day.
she's a very special lady.

you're just a little peach.
so much happier than the first 2 months of your life.
you're daddy, sister and i are so blessed to have you in our lives.
we love you little man.
happy 4th month!!

love,
your mommy

really loving his little toys...
hmm...rice cereal isn't to bad...

5 generations

my sweet sweet grandma clark (we grew up calling her grandma duck) isn't doing so well.
her 91 year old fragile body is just so weak and tired.
i'm so grateful that we have been able to visit her the past 4 years that we've came home.
my children may not know it now, but they are some very lucky kids to have met her.

yall may have heard me talk about altonah before...
well,  her and my great grandfather are the special people that built it for our family.
it's our family gathering place.

i'll forever be grateful for what they have done for us.

aren't my grandparents adorable?

Layla and Marx's great-grandparents.

Layla and Grandma hit it off real quick.
All grandma had to do was give her some chocolate ;)

Girls Night Out

Last week my mom, sisters, aunt (and sister-in-law), grandma, and I had a girls night out.
I wish it was something that we could do regularly.
It consisted of going to the temple together then eating out at the delicious Cafe Rio.

While eating we listened to my grandma's stories, laughed, cried, and just had a grand ole time.

I love these girls!

i left my kids in the hands of my father and they all survived.
i came home to this...
my dad was bathing layla so he made a little pallet for marx to lay on.
he loved it.

i felt so honored to watch vernal's finest return back to his home

USMC Daniel Gurr passed away August 5th, 2011.
He was only 21 years old, and he was fighting for our freedom.

I didn't know him personally, but I grew up with his older sister, and from
what I have read, he was an amazing young man.
The feeling I felt watching him return home can not be described.
It was chilling.
Seeing our community come together and welcome him home was awesome.
It brought tears to everyone's eyes.

Thank you Daniel for your sacrifice.
You will never be forgotten.

you can see the marine that was his escort all the way home.
he's sitting in the passenger seat.
what an honor that must have been.

there were nearly 1400 flags put out on the roads that would lead to the church where his funeral was held.
it was beautiful.

we're in utah!!

we haven't been here a week, but we've already had so much fun!

first day we arrived in hometown marx and layla met their cousin drea.
isn't she a doll?

the next day, layla met my dear friend, whitney's little girl, myla.
they had so much fun together.
wish we lived closer so they could play regularly.
