Dear Miss Layla,
I can't believe you are 3 years old!!
I still remember the moment I first held you in my arms.
I just kept thinking to myself,
"How on earth did I deserve to be blessed with such a beautiful little angel?"
You were absolutely perfect, you didn't even look like you had just traveled through
the birth canal.
Every little feature of yours was flawless.
And they still are.
You've grown into such a smart big girl this past year.
Specially after your little brother was born.
You just took on the big sister role so well, and matured so quickly.
You know what I love most about your age?
Your personality!
You say the FUNNIEST things, most the time you'll have me and your daddy rolling.
Just yesterday, when I was giving you and "brudder" a bath you would not
stop pouring water on his face, so I grabbed a cup of water and poured it on your face.
You looked up at me and said, "You little turd!"
You also call the remote an e-mote.
The kitchen, chichen.
Deodorant, yogurant.
Your Ken doll, you call him Nake.
When you've been spinning around in circles, instead of saying, "I'm dizzy!" you say
"wow, I'm busy!"
You also understand what death is now.
(sounds kind of creepy that you understand that)
So if I say, "Layla, will you please not stand on your chair?" or "Layla, be careful when you're
jumping off the couch!" or "We need to always wear our seat belts Layla, so please don't take yours off!"
You'll say, "Or I could hit my head and die?"
You call cottage cheese, college cheese.
You have two baby dolls.
One is named baby doll and the others name is Romy Eve.
And you've learned to take care of them just like I take care of brother.
Another funny thing...
You're dad and I are always trying to spell certain words out to be secretive around you.
Or we'll say, "Well that was s-t-u-p-i-d."
And you'll turn around and say, "I know it was r-s-c-t-b-c..."
It's hilarious that you actually think you're spelling something out.
We just play along and agree with you.
You call your whales crackers that I buy you, whale goldfish.
Cause they look like goldfish.
You're just so silly.
You're favorite cartoons to watch are Dora the Explorer and Backyardigans.
But you call Backyardigans, Backyarda Friends.
And your favorite movies would have to be The Lion King, Tangled, and Rio.
(Thank goodness, I love all those movies too!)
Some of your greatest friends are Brooklyn Johnson, Alayna Johnson, Cooper and Briggs
Waldrop, and your cousins, Laura, Leah and Katie, and of course all your
cousins in Utah. You talk about them all the time and tell me how much you miss them.
You're daddy is your best buddy.
When he's home on the weekends, you're glued to his hip and tag along with him where ever
he goes. Your favorite thing to do with him is play Barbies and cook him food in your kitchen.
You also love your Uncle Greg, and if he ever tells you "no" you have an
immediate meltdown, cause let's face it, he never tells you no.
At the end of July you got really sick with hand, mouth and foot disease.
You never actually broke out on your hands and feet, but you did get some sores
in the back of your throat, and you ran a fever of 103 for a couple days.
Then, at the end of August, I noticed that your hair was falling out.
Like big globs of hair.
It took you 2 years to finally get hair, it was actually past your shoulders,
then you just started loosing it.
I took you to the doctor, and he thinks because of the stress of your high fever,
it's caused you to loose a lot of your hair.
So we've had to cut it again and again to make up for all the thinning.
I'm taking you back next week to have blood work done to make sure that
nothing else is going on with your little body.
We're crossing our fingers that the tests come back normal.
You have a lot of new hair growth, so maybe in another 2 years, you'll have a FULL
head of hair?!! Only time will tell.
Your daddy and I are starting to get used to little footsteps in our bedroom
around 3 or so in the morning and your little body between us when we wake up.
I complain, but in all reality, I'll miss it when you stop.
I just love to cuddle you, and the best part of it is that you like to cuddle me too.
At the end of the day, when we kneel down, say our prayers, and read a couple
verses out of your own set of scriptures, I crawl in your bed and lay with you to help you go to sleep,
because you're scared that Baird the Dragon, aka Blah, will get you.
I tell you to hold your scriptures tight when you're scared and you'll feel all better.
When I check on you in the morning, sometimes you'll have your scriptures laying right next to you.
It's so sweet.
Speaking of Blah, that darn dragon may be the death of me!
He's a little green puppet on Baby Einstein that you used to love.
He'll come on the screen and say, "Blah!"
But after a few nightmares about him beating you up, you really do not like him anymore.
You always ask me, "Is Blah gonna get me momma?!"
Bless your little heart, you're so scared of him.
When you're tired and ready for bed you'll come up to me with
arms wide open and say, "I wanna hold you."
That is something I will definitely miss one day.
I could go on and on about how wonderful you are.
You're just a perfect little piece of heaven.
Mommy and Daddy love you
thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssss much!
Happy Birthday Miss Layla!
Love,
Your Proud Mommy and Daddy
