First Time for Everything

Then
Now
My baby is growing way to fast. She has no interest in her little bath tub that sits in the sink anymore! She wants to sit up like a big girl all the time now and be busy busy busy! I tried to keep her in it as long as I could but it was getting to dangerous, and she was into eVEryThiNG! Now, she loves the big girl tub, along with her rubber ducky, rubber turtle, and rubber frog. As for me, I'm a nervous wreck when she's in there. I just sit right next to her on the floor, waiting to catch her first fall, but she has the best balance. You go girl!
Gotta love the farmers tan!

Another "First"
Although she's been able to sit up for a couple months now, I've put this off too, and I don't know why? It's so much easier on me. It was such a hassle carrying her in that heavy car set and putting her on top of the stinkin cart. It's just hard for me to see her be such a big girl. I tell you what, she loves it too.
This is Brandon. I think he's her "first" crush. He's in our ward and a week younger than Layla. She just stares at him, while he plays with the toys and has no interest in her. I need to teach her to play hard to get.
This isn't a first, I just thought it was cute. When napping, she can't stand to have her bow on her head, and I don't blame her. So if I'm not able to take it off for her, she manages to do it herself. She's a smart one.

This is the "first" time she almost managed to pull all my hair out of my pony tail in one day. What a day it was... fewww!

gotta love her

The 24th of July?...

The 24th of July isn't considered a holiday here in the south, so they don't have the big celebrations like I'm used to having growing up. So, of course, Lance makes the best of it for me so that I don't get homesick. We started the weekend having a picnic and going swimming then ended it at the beautiful camp! Thanks love for making this weekend so fun for our family.
Picnic Time
Layla was quite content just chewing on her wet one!
"Bigga Lady"
{my family knows what that phrase means}
Only 10 minutes in the pool...

The Camp
It was so beautiful there, and very relaxing, even with a 6 month old.

Denton, Lance's older brother, had so much fun. It was like he was a kid again.
I had always thought horseshoes was such a lame-o game, but I just wanted to try to see if I could get the horseshoe from one steak to another. We ended up playing a full game with our friends Anthony and Jenny and it was SO fun! I love it now. And yes, we won! Good job baby!
After our victory at horseshoes!
Anthony and Jenny are so much fun to hang out with. We wish they lived closer.
Denton and "Uncle Egg"

This is the back of the camp. Isn't it beautiful? We spent the majority of the time out on that big deck.

Almost There..

Our little chubs is almost back to her happy, healthy little self. What a hectic couple weeks it's been. She started getting a rash from her antibiotic, and being since our doctor was out of the office for the week, we took her to a new doctor. Her ears are finally clear, she has a slight case of bronchitis (so we're back to breathing treatments), and just a head cold. Fewww.... the doctor put her on a new antibiotic to help with the congestion and it's been amazing! She's actually starting to eat and sleep a lot better. Hallelujah!
After yet another doctors visit she was exhausted and feel asleep. When she woke up we were running some errands, so we took her out of her seat for a few minutes to help daddy drive. (not literally, we were parked)
*i love when she wakes up and her little eyes are puffy*
I swear, any day now she WILL cut some teeth. She loves chewing on her shoes...
my toothbrush...
her sippy... and everything else in her view!
I've decided that I've spent way to much money on hair bows so I've started making my own creations. I know everyone will think I'm ridiculous putting these big flowers on my babies head but I think she looks so adorable! I've also been making lots of head accessories with felt! It's so much fun! All of her bows and flowers in this post were made by me... I love saving money!
Lance couldn't wait for the day to do this... For those of you who know him, you know what he's doing in these pictures. He holds Layla like this and flies her around the house. She lOveS it! She just giggles, giggles, and giggles. I think she feels like a big girl too.
She how excited she gets? And he's not even moving!

{love those pointed toes}

Our Poor "Little Bit"

What a week it's been! Our poor "little bit" (the name Aunt Barb gave Layla, isn't it cute?) has been so sick! On top of trying to cut some teeth, who knew an ear infection could be so awful? I sure didn't. It all started at the beginning of the week. She had a little cough but I just thought it was because it's been so dry around here, and she wasn't wanting to eat. By Wednesday she was congested pretty bad and on Thursday that's when it got scary for mommy and daddy. We got up that morning and ran some errands and she was happy as can be. When we got home I put her in her saucer to play while I put groceries away. She was just a talking to me when all the sudden she started crying in a way I'd never heard and she was shaking, plus her color was a little blue. I PANICKED! I picked her up and she was burning up, so I grabbed the thermometer and ran to the back room to get the Tylenol. And during all this time I couldn't get Lance to answer his phone. (He was just down the road helping his dad) Well, because I was in a panic I couldn't find the Tylenol anywhere, therefore the house was torn apart. I finally got a hold of Lance and he ran home, called the ER, found the Motrin, gave it to Layla, and loaded us up to go the the doctor. Her fever got to 104.8 in about 5 minutes. Come to find out she has a really bad ear infection. I had no idea her little ears were bothering her. I felt like such an awful mother. And the reason she hadn't been eating is because it hurt her little ears! My poor baby. On top of all of this she had to get a s-h-o-t in her little thigh, and she cried for about 10 minutes after that. And yes, Lance held her down. What a great daddy huh? Well... it's Sunday now and my baby still isn't feeling well. She's congested, coughing, sleep deprived, and constantly tugging on her little ears. Meanwhile, she's still smiling.. what a sweetheart.
I have to give it to my wonderful husband. He was so calm through all of this and while working long 12 hour nights he still comes home and takes care of his babies. I love you sugar!

Can I?

The other day when Layla woke up Lance and I was in her room just starring at her because she just looked so cute. While babbling away at us I said to her... "Oh Layla, I miss you in our bedroom, can I come cuddle you?" (not really meaning too) All the sudden I feel Lance picking me up like a little baby and lying me right next to her. It was the best cuddle session eVeR!
I know we could both get used to this, but we better not try.

I don't know how she gets cuter and cuter everyday.. but of course, I'm her mother.
Mmm Mmm... For breakfast one of my favorite things is vanilla yogurt with fruit and granola. I think it's Layla's too. When she sees that I'm preparing it, she just starts to jumping and squealing!
She kept giving me these eyes, wanting more. It's delicious.
Lickin those yummy, yogurt-coated lips!

The Dreaded

Today Lance and I had to take Layla in for her 6 month check-up, and yes, more shots! It's just so heart breaking for us. Lance is a wonderful father, but refuses to hold her down, so I'm the one that has to do it. It's so sad when she's looking at me with those big alligator tears, wondering why I'm holding her down through all this pain. Will it get any better? Please tell me it will. She's also weighing in at 16 lbs. 12 oz. and she's now 25" long. She's just perfect in every way. There is only one good thing about shot day... she loves to cuddle and nap on me all day.
Wouldn't it break your heart to if you had to look into those eyes, while restraining her, for dreadful shots....?
