Sledding In Utah

I am almost caught up with all my pictures from Utah. I think one more post after this one will do it! Anyway... our family always goes sledding on New Year's Day, but this year we went the day after Christmas and New Year's Day. And I'm glad we did, because New Year's Day was not a good day for me nor Layla. We had caught some bug and... well, let's just say it wasn't pretty.
The cute, newly engaged couple, with my pappy! Kenney- she loves taking pictures just as much as I do.
Poor Shelbe was so cold after some long hard sledding. She wasn't too happy that I was snapping pictures.
The whole crew coming back from the big hills.

Getting warm with my dad's awesome heater from Japan, or something.
Poor Romeo, look at his little red nose.
Ha, all you can see is my teeth in the picture, but yes, that is me.

Lance and his long lost little sister.

Derrick and Romeo

Mmm..gotta love that hot cocoa.
Jaren..
..and Trevan completely exhausted.
It was a little to chilly for miss Layla, so she was able to stay and get caught up with Grandma Shellie. Thanks mom.

Meeting Myla

When I'm able to go home and visit, I love to catch up with some of my closest friends. This time it was extra special, because we've added a new little one to our group. Taylor and Whitney's baby girl, Myla. She's so precious and I wish I would have been able to see her again before we left. But the 3 1/2 hours we were able to spend with her and Whit were wonderful. I miss those Orem days...

Isn't she a doll? I just love her skinny little legs and those huge fluffly boots!
I still can't believe you're a mommy Whit! Good luck to you and Tay on your new life together!

Snip Snip!

While we were in Utah, Layla got her first haircut! She wasn't feeling very good at all that day, but she did really good, specially after we gave her a sucker! We didn't have to much to cut off, but a mullet was beginning to form so my wonderful sister trimmed it up and gave her a cute little bob. I think it's so sad when mom's let there babies grow mullets, and since we live in Mississippi, I definitely won't let that happen!

Trimming the neck line...

She sat like this the whole time. She's gonna love getting her hair done just like her mommy!
All done, and so cute!

Layla's First Birthday

No matter what, New Years Eve will always be a day of celebration in our family. We had such a great time this year. I thought I'd have a hard time seeing our baby turn ONE but it was anything but hard. I loved taking care of gifts, invites, decorations, and yes, even the cake. Although, I'm sure my mother and siblings didn't think that while I was decorating it. They make it look so easy on the food network!

I worked on that sucker for at least an hour and a half, just decorating it!

Layla lit up when she saw the candles coming her way, of course, she didn't quite know what to do, so cousin Sela helped her out!
When it came time to eat the cake I thought she'd dig right in. Boy was I wrong. She'd get it on her fingers and just stare at it, then try and shake it off. I think I've ruined her by always washing her hands. Needless to say, the clean up wasn't to bad!
I can't believe our baby is ONE!

Christmas

This year for Christmas we decided to surprise our Utah family! As always we had the time of our lives and enjoyed spending the holidays with them. It's been two years since I've been home for Christmas, so it was very much needed! But before we left, we celebrated the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa Spiers...

The night we arrived into Vernal we sent out a text to all my siblings with a picture of Layla. The subject was Surprise! and the message said, "Please come see me at Grandpa and Grandma Chivers' house!" Everyone was so surprised and so happy to see little miss Layla.
Christmas Eve
The next day was Christmas Eve and this is when all the good eatin' starts. My mother always hosts a wonderful dinner with amazing food! Both sides of the family came, so my mom and dad's house was packed, but that's just how I like it!

Christmas Day
It all started at 6:30 in the morning. Yaeger pounds on the door and tells us to "wake up!" Lance and I were both so excited for Layla's first Christmas that we popped right up.. but of course, Layla slept till 9:30! Of all mornings! It was killing us, waiting for her to wake up!

She was sleeping so comfortably. I just couldn't wake her..
And who wants a grumpy baby girl on Christmas morning anyway?
The wait was so worth it! She was so excited when she found what Santa had left for her. And so were we! Christmas is way more fun when you have babies!
After all the excitement of opening gifts and eating breakfast, which by the way was delicious, we got ready and were off to Uncle DeeJay's and Aunt Kandie's house, where there was MORE good food.
Our family just keeps growing and growing... These pictures will already be out dated in March and April! Seeing this makes me want to have a lot of kids. I love spending time with our big families.
Christmas was so much fun this year. I'm already counting down the days for next Christmas. I remember thinking as a child that Christmas would get so boring as I got older because I wouldn't get as many gifts, (i know i was selfish) but really, it just keeps getting better. Seeing Layla light up on Christmas morning was the best gift both her father and I could have received. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
